I've used Benzoyl Peroxide off and on for the last 10+ years, and have recently developed an allergic reaction to it. I am sure it is the Benzoyl Peroxide, as I have used different products which contact BP and have they have the same effect: I wake up with itchy, red and irritated skin. It almost feels like I have hives - very itchy! BP is the one thing that has always worked in clearing up break-outs and now it seems as if I won't be able to use it anymore.
Why would I all of a sudden develop this allergy? Has anyone else experienced this? Salycic Acid doesn't do much for me - what other OTC medications have others found effective? (I have mild acne, with breakouts maybe twice a month).
