Hi ive had quite severe acne for about 4 years since I was 13 and ive tried so much different stuff for it like every type of antibiotic (apart from some really strong thing called roaccutane which the dermatologist said is the only thing left to try really) im on the pill now which has helped abit but ive still got it bad and its supposed to work completely after 3 months (ive been on it for about 5 months)…
Anyways ive noticed (and I hadn’t really thought about it before) that it’s a really weird type of acne ive never seen anyone else’s like it. I have a lot of actual spots but mostly my skin just looks really really red, infected and inflamed around my affected areas (whole of my chin, around my nose and a bit of my forehead). Like I cant really see actual spots its just like my pores look so blocked and seriously I mean my skin is really really inflamed and disgusting (its especially really really bad on my chin and ive had it for as long as I can remember). Ive just never seen any other people have acne like this because most people just have loads of obvious spots but I think mine looks worse, and not only that I just think its really weird. Like is it some weird form of acne? Does anyone know if this is normal?
I read something about acne rosacea which it could be...although it said that teenagers don’t really get this? But seeing as none of the normal acne stuff has worked I don’t know? But ive been to a dermatologist who has never said anything about acne rosacea although maybe coz it’s not expected to be in teenagers? Coz what ive read about acne rosacea it sounds like it could be?
And my skin really really really gets me down, it’s the only thing that ever gets me down now because im so self conscious and I would be pretty if only my skin was clear and it’s really really not fair. Nobody actually understands just how much it gets me down, they keep saying to forget about it and not let it stop me enjoying my life but I can’t because it’s all I think about. I would be so so so so much happier if my skin cleared up I really mean that. I rarely wear makeup but when I do, it’s the only time I feel confident and I really really really want my skin to clear up. I don’t know what else to try or do. Please help. x

I hate to say it, but I also think is rosacea, which it doesn't have a cure. You can control it, but you can't cure it. My aunt has it and since I remember her, she has a red face. Sometimes gets less red and sometimes gets very red...but she doesn't do nothing to get better.
Well, there some tricks that you can do to keep it under control. But first find out about what makes it worse. Here are few causes:Stress—Almost any medical condition is complicated by stress, and rosacea is no exception. Although daily life and sudden life change stresses can’t be avoided, a good plan for and healthy approach to dealing with the inevitable challenges of life is important.
Overexertion—Any activity which causes physical stress can cause a facial flare. Patients dealing with rosacea may find that running hard and fast, mowing the yard, or even high energy vacuuming can cause facial coloration. Pacing strenuous activities and taking occasional breaks can help with these problems.
Diet—A healthy and balanced diet is important, but rosacea patients must be extra diligent. A general system problem can be quickly translated to skin problems in general and to rosacea flares in particular. In addition, some foods seem to bother those with rosacea. Hot and spicy foods, in particular, serve as triggers for many dealing with rosacea.
Alcohol—Though some rosacea patients can (and do) imbibe, many find that even one drink may cause a sudden redness which may progress to more serious rosacea problems. Both beer and wine tend to cause more problems as far as flares for rosacea patients, so mixed drinks in moderation tend to be more realistic.
Smoking—Nicotine is unhealthy to the system in general, but since it impacts on blood flow, it’s particularly troublesome for those suffering from rosacea.
Treatment involves both oral and topical medicines. Oral antibiotics (such as tetracycline) are commonly prescribed; the dose may be initially high and then be tapered to maintenance levels. You should try it, it helped me a lot, but you have to do the treatment for few months and during the cold season, because the skin gets very sensitive to the sun and heat. So, be careful.
A topical (skin) antibiotic cream such as metronidazole (Metrocream - it's a treatment for yeast infection, but who cares if it works) is useful to reduces the inflammation and the redness. Other topical antibiotic creams include erythomycin and clindamycin (Cleocin).
Short-term topical cortisone (steroid) preparations of the right strength may also be used to reduce local inflammation. Some doctors are trying tretinoin (Retin-A) or isotretoin (Accutane), prescription medications also used for acne, or permethrin (Elimite) cream, which is used for the mites that cause scabies.
I don't recommend Acutane or the birth control pill, because are very harmful for your liver and have many other side effects. If you have no problems with your liver get Diane 35; it's the best birth control pill, that actually works for acne. In fact the pill it become a acne treatment and it's not used as a birth control pill.
But first try with tetracycline and metronidazole, but you have to keep doing it for months, don't give up after few weeks.
I hope this information helped you and I wish you a clear skin as fast as possible. Good Luck and again, DO NOT give up...
