In my case (and I assume is not my case) acne become even more severe 2 to 5 days before menstruation. I've read it is because of risk factors like hormonal swings, skin rubbing, pressure caused by bike helmets, tight collars or backpacks, pollution, exceeding humidity, pinching or squeezing acne lesions or rough scrubbing. Avoid them[/b] -
(and I assume is not only my case)...

My gynecologist told me if I see a direct link between acne and menstruation it is very possible to face a hormonal problem and some small ovular cysts. better check with your doctor

from my phisician:
Acne can become even more severe 2 to 7 days before menstruation in women or because of risk factors like hormonal swings, skin rubbing, pressure caused by bike helmets, tight collars or backpacks, pollution, exceeding humidity, pinching or squeezing acne lesions or rough scrubbing.
Avoid as much/many as you can -
try to relax and get good sleep during the 3-5 days before menstruation. Helps for me and I don't get as many pimples as usually

I think that acne before menstruation is normal considering all the hormonal changes that happened with our body. Dont forget that the principal cause of acne is the hormonal transit.

I agree that acne get worse before and during menstruation but my face turns normal after one week after. I don't know if sleeping helps , for me is just a typical reaction and there is noting to do about it.

Now you see why is a difference betwen men acne and women acne.
I think that women's body is more exposed to stress and presure.
Is there any way to prevent acne before menstruation?
