I was recomended by my doctor to take minocyn twice a day. But I couldnt tolerate the side effects. I had sever nausea, head ache and dizziness all over the day. I couldnt even work properly so I had to quit.
Has anyone else also suffered such harsh siide effects? I took the treatment for almost a week but still the side effects were the same so I had to drop it. -
I dont remember the name of the medication but I also suffered similar side effects from an anti acne treatment. Upon consulting my doctor I was asked to immediately discontinue the treatment as my body was responding negatively to this treatment.
I was then recommended a lotion named Dalacin T to apply on my pimple every day and let it get absorbed. It was not an oily one but worked good on my acne. -
I had a horrible experience with it.. The side effects were really swere.. I guess this medication isnt 4 me :(

Are you sure about this side effects or your skin had an reaction?
I want to know because one of my friend was adviced to use this and......... :-// -
minocin, is a broad spectrum antibiotic of the tetracyclin family so it is worth mentioning your reaction when ever you are offered a course of antibiotics of any type. You would appear to be overly sensitive to this group and it will help your doctor to select a more appropriate prescription. If ever you develop a rash, especially where arteries come to the surface, stop taking and go to your doctor as you are ALLERGIC.
I had the same reaction as you but added in severe swelling of my joints and a rash. I ended up bed ridden for 2 weeks.
If you are over your mid 20's and still have severe or persistent acne and especially if you also have difficulty maintaining a stable body weight (though not always), it is worth being checked for polycystic ovaries. This is a condition which is not curable but can be managed quite sucessfully. A lot of doctors dont seem to look at this as a cause, its only taken me 20 years for someone to figure it out!!!!!!!!!!!! Had I been trying to have kids it would have been checked for sooner as it is a common cause of difficulty in conceiving. There are varied symptoms and not everyone has all of them.
This is well worth investigating especially if you want kids as it can make conceiving difficult. Obviously the sooner its found the better -

I had no idea about this. Is this from a medical specialist? Or you (as I did, now then suggested) assumed that acne is a hormonal problem, having hard-time:) conceiving is a normal follow-up of this (hormonal problem).
I will very much appreciate more details on this isue(since I am interested:)

Well as far as I know Tetracycline is good for acne, so if minocin (minocycline) belongs to the class of medications called tetracycline antibiotics, it's got to be useful for acne problems. But is better to ask a dermatologist.

I am a 55 year old woman who has taken minocyn mr for 8 years for minor acne breakouts and although the acne remained clear , the result of taking this drug has been hyper-pigmentation of the skin on my cheeks, above my lip, and on the side of the forehead. I t is a blueish pigmentation and so far the only 'cure' it seems is a laser treatment with the Q-switched Nd YAG laser. I am nervous of having this treatment and would like to hear from anyone who might have had the same experience as I have and whether they have had successful treatment from laser or any other treatment. I do quite a good 'cover up' job, but am too embarrassed to even let my partner see me without make-up in day light. It would mean the world to me to have my skin put back to normal, as I like to look smart and attractive as every woman does. I of course am not taking minocyn any more....I stopped taking it 6 months ago and SO wish the doctor had looked into the long-term results of taking this drug. Do hope there is someone out there who can give some advice.. Thank you

Please think twice before taking minocycline. My 18 year old daughter took 100 mg of minocycline for acne daily for approximately 3 months and developed drug induced autoimmune hepatitis as a result. Minocycline can also induce lupus.
