    Embarrassed by acne

    Hi all,
I just found this forum by googling acne as I'm interested in finding something that works. I've never joined a forum before so am not really sure what to do, so I guess that an introductory message is the way to start.
I had some acne as a teenager, but am now older but none the wiser, and I stll get flare-ups every so often - but not as bad as the lady on Embarrassing Bodies on TV the other day, if anyone saw it.
Anyway, I currently have a nasty spot on the side of my nose which is not very pleasant and I wonder if anyone has any advice?
Not sure how often I need to check back but will see what happens. I just got in after a back-breaking afternoon putting new plants in my hanging baskets and window boxes, so am just trying to relax with a whisky - or is that bad for the complexion?

    Hey Rosie,
Read about the pimple on your nose. We can't have that. I'm not selling anything yet, but I am writing a book about Acne. I promised my self back when I was in my early 20s that I would never let my children go through what I went through with severe Acne as a teenager. I studied in ways that most people don't. Mostly I have used hindsight and observed for a very long time. I cured both my sons of Acne.

My first son I cured with a two minute conversation. It was mostly the heavy butter on bread with him and he started drinking orange juice instead of Sunny Delight. My second has had a perfect complexion most the time. He woke up one morning with what looked like the measles. It was Acne from the 5 Hershey Nuggets he was eating every day. The pimples from the chocolate were gone in about two to three weeks once he stopped eating all the chocolate.

My second son, Jeff eats a lot of potato chips which makes him breakout. If he watches it his face clears up. The one thing that has made Jeff's Acne come back at 19 has been college and staying up late to do home work. The lack of sleep is a very common cause of Acne. Probably I figure 45% responsible, the rest is diet and some of it is emotions and stress.

When I joined the Airforce Reserves I thought my Acne was going to get out of control because they wouldn't let me bring my antibiotics to basic training or tech school. Well, within 10 days my skin changed. The excessive oil was gone. It was the lack of large desserts, and no seconds. Marching and staying active most the day.

And something I hadn't done in years, we hit the sack at 9:00 every night and were up at 5:00 every morning. The longer complete sleep changes the hormones and makes the skin less oily when you wake up. Teens or anyone that will go to bed early and will allow themselves sleep will not be nearly as sensitive to diet, but diet is still the main cause of Acne. Milk is on the top of the list. People that drink 2 to 3 cups a day will usually have more Acne than those that only drink milk one cup a week or less.

Milk has the growth hormone which makes our skin oily. Sugar raises the insulin which raises the hormones which makes the skin oily. Vegetables and Fruits instead of so much oily sugary comfort foods is very important.

In the underdeveloped countries it is hard to find anyone with Acne.
They don't have refined foods in those countries. 1300 were studied for two years in New Guinea and not even a single small pimple was found on the people studied. See, it's our diet in the developed countries, plain and simple and our fast pace where society tells us there is no time to sleep. That is where we need to rethink what rules we will live by, right.

Milk and ice cream are the worst foods for Acne, but in the military I ate the dairy without a problem, just not in large portions, and I got my sleep. In bed every night at 9:00. It wasn't all you can eat like at home. I didn't get to eat the three bowls of ice cream everyday like at home and the eggnogs before bed every night.

At home there were always cakes around or chocolate fudge, but seldom any vegetables like toast salads, Turnip Greens, Spinach, Collard Greens. That stuff has as many vitamins and minerals as a multiple vitamin pill and it's a lot better for you. Remember Rosie, dicipline your sleep.

Eat good food, go to bed early, and feel good about yourself. This is a pretty inexpensive treatment. Stan

Hmmm, you could apply some topical cream that contains benzoyl peroxide to your acne spot there. However, don't go for a cream that contains a high amount of benzoyl peroxide ingredient. Instead settle for a lowest percentage of benzoyl peroxide in the market which is current 2.5%.

Why? Because a higher percentage of benzoyl peroxide will only heighten the chance of getting your skin irritated by it. Aside from that, we don't actually something like a 5 or 10% of the ingredient to work. 2.5% will do FINE!

And remember to apply sparingly in the beginning in order not to irritate your skin and make you think that the cream is not working on your skin. The key here is to APPLY and OBSERVE the reaction on your skin.

If you find no harsh irritation, gradually increase the amount as well as frequency of application. Forget about all those products that promise to clear your acne overnight as in actual sense, it will really take times (a few weeks) to clear your acne.

If you like, you can get to know about Benzoyl Peroxide Benefits here

  4. To cure acne, it's not that hard. You just have to know the reasons we get acne. If you rely on a dermotologist to help you, then good luck. The anti biotics are never good for the intestines, but the doctors don't care about that. We need good flora in the intestines. That's the first thing the antibiotics destroy. It takes a long time to get the flora back by eating fruits and vegetables. In the mean time yeast grows out of control damaging the intestine wall and causing poor food digestion and causing more pimples when we try to get off the meds.

With the diet it's usually something obvious we are doing wrong. With me it was the huge amounts of milk and milk products and my sugar intake and chocolate that gave me pimples. With those things reduced in my diet by 75%, and more vegetables on the plate (a lot more) I would have never had Acne. Sometimes it's just too much butter on bread that will cause the Acne. The reason is never that some people just have acne. That way of thinking is funny. Not enough sleep will cause Acne and that is often the reason. Oils are hard to digest and when we are run down from not enough sleep then anything can become a problem to digest.

Start going to salad bars and get lost in all the fantastic food combinations. Salads aren't what you would call sweet. They bring on good sleep. Bring home what you see at the produce section of your grocery store. It will take time to change your diet. Exercise will drive your body to develope a better appetite for some of this, what I call real food. Whole grain breads are better for the complexion than white bread as long as you don't eat too much to where you get allergies to it. The allergies can drive oil out through the skin. Good natural food is the answer. Brown rice is a great food. Very Acne friendly. Low Glycemic Load (time it takes to increase blood sugar.) Breads with low sugar and oils or no sugar and oils are better for the Acne. Breads have a higher glycemic load than rice, seventy compared to forty four with rice. Stan

No, actually I had severe acne as a teen. On my face, back, shoulders, and chest. I was also a milk drinker in the worst way. Several cups a day plus 3 bowls of ice cream a day and cakes were always around. And there was eggnog before bed. Fat hamburger meat, bacon, sausage.

After just ten days in the military with only a small dessert at meals and no seconds, early to bed by 9:00 my oily skin was gone.

I thought I would have the worst Acne in 10 counties because in the military I wasn't allowed to bring my antibiotics with me. To my surprise my skin changed there because of the change in diet and the early to bed.

I've studied Acne all my life and am now writing a book on it. I would like anyone that wants to to write me telling me what kinds of foods you eat over the course of a week. If you will take the time to really think about it and tell me everything you eat I'll get back with you and let you know if I see something in your diet that will cause the Acne.

Acne is either caused by diet, lack of sleep, or sexual tension. Sometimes all a teenager needs is to have a girl friend or boy friend. Which ever the case is.

Many of us don't see that it is our diet because we over look some foods that we believe to be good because we've been told that by a doctor.

My son has a pretty good diet but he has to watch what he eats real close because with him he is shy and could use a girl friend. His skin is overly excited because of sexual tension. This is true.

And yes, a dermatologist won't do near as much for you as I can. They are in the business of fast cures. They would rather treat you for a long time. They follow the money. I cured my first son in just a 5 minute conversation. He stopped putting so much butter on his bread and started eating more nutritious foods and his Acne left in less than a month. He could put more butter on bread than anyone I know.

No, there is alway a reason. Diseases don't just befall us. If it wasn't in the things I'm saying then I wouldn't be so successful in curing acne.

It's not just Acne, I'm good at other problems too. My wife and I got a ecoli kidney infection from drinking water that had ecoli.
The cipro was hurting us. It kills all the good flora in the intestines with the first pill. My tendons started hurting.
I stopped taking the Cipro after 5 days and the infection came back.

I put 2 raw garlic cloves in apple juice and liquidiced it in a blender. Drank 4 cups like this through the day. The ecoli was gone the next day. It would have only taken about 2 cups. My wife only had one raw garlic clove in water. Her kidney infection was gone the next day also. She had the flu at the same time with a fever. It was also gone the next day as well.

The doctors aren't up to par with me. Doctors aren't good at curing cancer either. You can cure cancer by liquifying Asparagus and taking 4 table spoons in the morning and 4 at night. The reason that most people don't get cancer is because their immune systems are good. That tells us that there is a cure for cancer. The fact that most people don't get it is proof that it can be cured and that people like Lorraine Day who is a medical doctor cured her own breast cancer by just changing her life style. In 8 months her stage 4 cancer was gone. She was about 2 days from dieing because she was at the point where she couldn't take in water. She remembered from medical school that a water enema could sustain her and she lived. No, I'm sorry but doctors really don't use the best methods, they follow the money except for a few. Stan

    Esotret,
Please go to this YouTube address and listen to Mark Hyman who is a medical doctor that got Acne at 36 yrs old. He tells how he cured his acne with nutrition.

With a teenager's body going through puberty (fast changes) and all the refined foods all around us that lacks nutrition it is very easy to get Acne. The stress of school and lack of sleep. Some teens will kill a bag of potato chips while worrying over a girl friend. It's those binges that are really bad for the complexion. Some teens cling to comfort foods like ice cream because it comforts them. Milk and ice cream and other dairy products are the worst foods for Acne. they are full of growth hormones that make the body produce extra oil(sebum) on the skin not to mention the grease in all milk products. I don't have mild acne and believe that it's diet that cause of acne. I know it is and I am an expert on Acne. I've studied acne for the last 35 years.

As I've said in some of my other letters on this site. Many parts of the world don't have Acne. It's just in these developed countries where we have an abundance of food and so much refined foods and such small consumption of vegetables. A lot of people like I was in the 60s just didn't know where the fats and grease was in our diet.
In the early 60s and late 50s teens were covered with pimples. Hamburger stands, even Mcdonalds served hamburgers cooked in lard. The people cooking the meat usually had Acne at those fast food places.

I saw an old non professional film of Jerry Lee Lewis at the piano with several teens dancing to his music. I saw the amount of zits on those kids faces in that black and white film. Then I remembered what it was really like in the early 60s when the Beatles were doing concerts in America. The teens then made the teens of the 21 century look clean faced in comparison. It was terrible and people didn't know what was causing it. They just had a lot of half baked ideas.

People are eating foods the USDA says are good. You should never believe a food is just fine because some big industry says it is. They have their own agenda and it usually doesn't care about you. That's the real world. Sugar, milk, chocolate, greasy meats and nuts and french fries. All of that causes pimples. The cheese, milk shakes, highly advertized yogurt, butter when used in excesses causes Acne. I know this stuff and I've cure my own sons of acne. I just want to see teens get over the disease. And it has to be cured from the inside out not the outside in. It starts from the inside from what we eat and the bodies internal workings. Emotions like shyness around the opposite sex and lack of sleep incourage zits. Shyness and nervousness lessen with a good diet.

Stress vitamins in veggies will prevent us from being as nervous in a stressful situation.

Nut meats, peanut butter, almond milk, very oily stuff. Can make the skin way oily and cause serious pimples. Just a few nuts once in a while is all a teenager can have without a serious breakout. Peanut butter and almond milk, forget it.

Balogna, hot dogs, lunch meats, zit food. There is better food than that. Don't eat it. Stan

    Hey Stan,

Thanks for all the advice, of all the posts on this subject, yours are def the way to go, the most helpful and practical long term fix. You can't just keep putting topical treatments on your skin and expect the inside to take care of itself. If you are not willing to put some time and effor into your diet and things like getting as much sleep as you can, your body gets over worked and clogged up, it takes longer for acne to heal that way. So to anyone who reads these posts, listen to Stans advice and you'll have clear skin in no time.
As they say "Stans the man" ;)
    Cheers!!!

    Back again :)

Just wanted to say, although i completely agree with Stan the man! I have tried some pretty good acne treatmens, topical included. But then not everything works for everyone. The best topical treatment ive tried is Proactive, and also Differin, I used the gel instead of the cream. Another great treatment I've tired is VitaCure B5 clearskin, great stuff. It doesnt taste to great, but you can mix it up with something to mask the bitter taste.

    Cheers!!!

i am new to this site and have read many letters. i haven't found a "cure" for my acne. I started taking Accutane as a last resort, but didn't like the side effects, so I stopped. The acne went away for a good 2-3 yrs, but eventually returned when I had my 2nd child. I now take tetracycline that i can purchase in Mexico very cheaply. Sometimes it works but i don't like to take too often. I have tried proactive and I didn't see results that I would've liked to. Anyway, i will try the colon cleanser for sure. I know that we eat too many things that just pile up in our intestines.
Any good advice out there? I'd love to read it.
