I've been using another antibiotic called Doxycycline, or Doxy in short. I used to take twice a day at my doctor's recommendation. At first it did great, but in time I found it less agreeable than other alternative therapies. I was very sensitive to sun light and I had a permanent state of depression. I gave it up, although my acne improved visibly. It could be better to try it again? :-? -
better don't if it couse depression. I get serious stomach problems if I use antybiotics for more then 4 days in a row, so I avoid them. try something else. have you tried retin-a or renova? Retin a woorks for me just fine

Yeah, I felt dizziness when I used to take Doxy, too. Besides, part of my pimples showed up again after I stopped the therapy. Even though it's less acute now, acne still exists and I have to deal with it some other way, cause Doxy's side-effects are disturbing to me.

dizziness from antibiotics -don't play with this. You did a smart think to stop Doxy treatment

I'm on Doxy for a year now and I guess I'm lucky I didn't have any of the side-effects you're complaining about. No redness, no rash, no sensitivity, no breakouts, nothing. Only smoother skin and less pimples.

I had no problem using Doxycycline. It worked out as I expected and I'm sticking on it. Unlike other temporary answers to this disturbing affection, Doxy100 proved efficiency in less than 2 months. I'm happy with it and I'm trustful because it's an antibiotic, after all, not a wonder-potion.

I was told to try Doxycycline and any other acne antibiotic in combination with gastric protectors like Omeron. You no longer experience stomach aches and the antibiotic continues his fight against the infection. It did great for me!

I was taking them last year in the summer and it worked awesome! But, i dunno if they were related but i had constant depression and i breifly had anorexia. I am taking them again and am prepared to fight any signs of depression and or anorexia coming back.

It seems that is dangeurous to folow this treatment and not that effective.
I'm not a big fan of antibiotics but if it works for you............
:D -
I took Doxycycline last summer. It worked brilliantly. Sadly a lack of job over winter and a 'anti-drugs' father prevented me from continuing the treatment. I am happily back onit again and my face is clearing up! Yay!

Doxycycline has proven to be effective in treating acne; particularly in cases of moderate to severe acne. In a study conducted in Turkey and published in 2005 doxycycline was shown to be as effective as another treatment known as azithromycin. In the study, doxycyline was demonstrated as providing improvement in the acne experienced by members participating in the study. Improvement in the acne was shown to continue up to two months following cessation of the treatment. It should be noted that side effects related to the use of doxycycline in this study were noted and included photosensitivity.
