    Accutane

It controls acne by decreasing the amount of oil (sebum) production that is released by the sebaceous glands. Accutane is sold in the form of capsules in doses of 10mg, 20mg, or 40mg which is the only treatment known to stop severe nodular acne.

i was on roaccutane and i have to say it gives the best results FAST.
i've tried alot of creams, gels, tablets and cleansers over the years and nothing compares to roaccutane.
the only bad thing was constant dried lips and skin. i had to drink heaps of water, not stay out in the sun for too long, wear sunscreen even when im indoors and used heaps of lip balm.

However i've recently learnt that in the long term it is a catalyst for sun damaged skin. Therefore you must wear sunscreen everyday, even when its not sunny.

I took accutane last year when i was in grade 10, at 15 years old
i took an intensive 80 mg a day
(40mg in the morning and 40 at night)
I had one of the worst cases of acne that my dermatologist had ever seen
i had it on my back, chest, legs, neck, and face
accutane had alot of side effects and it wasn't fun while i was on it thats for sure
but overall i was very happy with the results
although my face and other body did not look normal after accutane,
it felt much smoother and i felt alot better about myself
here I am nearly a year after accutane, my acne returned about 6 months after accutane but not nearly as severe as before
my dermatologist recommended i go on accutane a second time, at a lower dose but i did not want this
i am now on an antibiotic called erythromycin, alot of people have had much success with this, unfortunately i haven't had success with it

everyone just remember that how sad you may be,how bad your acne may be, that you will get through it, you will
I struggle alot with my acne problem but I try my hardest to look at it positively as much as possible, as it is making all of us stronger people

Why not just eat good food and get enough sleep. Reduce stress and take care of yourself. The human body wasn't meant to have Acne.

Milk is the worst thing for causing Acne. I wouldn't cut it out completely if your stomach begs for it. You need to listen to your stomach, but eat vegetables regularly like Brocolli, spinach, tossed salads. Don't eat very much of the sweet processed foods with all that sugar and oils. The ice cream is very bad for your complexion.
Veggies are chocked full of good stuff like calcium and other minerals and vitamins. You need to eat this way to relax the excited skin which is what Acne is. Eat good food and feel good about yourself and your Acne will vanish.

If you lived in an underdeveloped country where you coundn't eat the junk foods, just what you could hunt, catch, or grow in a garden, then you couldn't have Acne.

I had acne real bad when I was a teen. It left in two weeks when I joined the military.

I'm wrighting a book on Acne now. Raised two boys and managed to keep their acne under control.

Curing acne is just doing the basics. That's not easy when you are a teen living in America.

If you were growing up in a foreign country where there were no greasy comfort foods and processed foods you wouldn't be able to get Acne.

So learn to eat your vegetables. Eat fruit. Get your sleep. Losing sleep and consuming sugar and caffeine are very bad for your complexion.

In the military I hit the sak at 9:00 every night and was woke up at 5:00 every morning. My skin on my face and chest lost the excess oiliness in a week and a half.

In basic training we weren't allowed to go back for seconds and the desserts were not very big, just small portions, but we ate on time every day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

So, it was the getting to bed early, eating enought good food and very small amounts of desserts, and the low stress. Yes, the military had us for a while. Our life was on hold, so we had no real worries and there wasn't the tension over the opposite sex to exite the skin.

The vegetables in the diet have a great deal to do with relaxing the skin and slowing down oil production because of the calcium. Brocolli is on of the best foods for the skin, and spinach. You get all kinds of vitamins and calcium. Avacados are good too. You get monounsaturated fatty acids. Avacados are better than eating potato chips for you skin. They are high in vitamin A which is good for the skin.

Don't over eat, especially out of stress and worries. Just have fun and be happy. There is no time like the teenage years for being happy and going out on dates with someone you really like. Being happy has so much to do with the hormone balance and your complexion.

Have you ever noticed how teens in love glow. They don't breakout, they glow because they are complete and happy, so get that way. Your teenage years only come around once, so enjoy them. Stan

My son took Accutane last year. No noted side effects only the dry skin. Also was required to have the blood work and required to abstain from sexual activity while taking the treatments. His skin really cleared from a severe out break. Just recently I noticed it is flaring again and I remember the Doctor saying that although rare, some people have to do it twice. I doubt my son will submit to the treatments again. If cost is a factor I would choose to pass. Yet I realize that a young person's appearance and confidence is more important than money.

    Hey guys,

Accutane WORKS! But it has TONS of side effects!! and I mean tons!

These include skin peeling, dryness, teratogenicity (i.e. it will kill a baby if you get pregnant and do not know about it)..this is why women must get pregnancy tests while on Accutane. It can cause liver damage and liver function tests are ordered regularly on treatment.

But it does work on acne. However, if you haven't already tried something topical, or if you have tried something and it didnt work, feel free to check out this blog I found about benzoyl peroxide which is in the 2.5% concentration in the popular product Proactiv... "www.doesproactivwork.org" ... It's done by a pharmacist so they know more than docs when it comes to drugs.

I'm still waiting for the pharmacist to post some stuff about accutane but he said he was going to soon and talk about how to get rid of old acne scars as well.

    cheers,

    Jordan
