   Acne scars - do dermabrasion therapies work ?

   Hi, if acne is severe with noticeable scars, a cosmetic surgeon referral will help. The surgeon will look at using dermabrasion or laser treatment. In these procedures, the top layer of the skin is removed under a general anaesthetic, leaving a more even layer of skin. There is limited clinical evidence about the efectiveness of these treatments. When reading a statement like this, it doesn't mean a procedure doesn't work, it just means it hasn't been thoroughly researched.
