I've noticed recently that I have acne appearing on the rim of my lips - not actually on my lips, but on the edge of them.
They don't bother me most of the time, like any other type of acne, but I'm a trumpet player, so when my lips buzz, it rubs against the bump and causes mild irritation.
I noticed that they showed up when I started using chapstick more often - I use Burt's beeswax...
Is there any reason why this happening, and if so, can I prevent it?
I was really freaked out, as I am with any bumps, period, because I only have mild acne.
However, having them close to my lips bothered me.
Thank you. -
Some people will experience breakouts around the lips or chin when using lipsticks, lip glosses or chapsticks that are made from (comedogenic) ingredients. Comedogenic ingredients can cause blackheads, whiteheads, or bumps on your skin. Look for cosmetics that are non-comedogenic or hypoallergenic. It won't clog the pores or trigger breakouts.
Another possibility is that you're reacting to a change in a brand of toothpaste or mouthwash. If that is the case, I suggest switching to your old one. But it is more likely the chapstick's fault. :)

Another worthwhile consideration is to obviously double-check with a healthcare professional. In most case it probably just is a case of href="http://www.mouthpimples.com">mouth pimples but in some cases it could actually be a STD like herpes.
Please check with a doctor if it never cleared up.
Thanks,
